Effect of platelet-rich plasma on fracture healing

چکیده

ABSTRACT Bone has the ability to completely regenerate under normal healing conditions. Although fractures generally heal uneventfully, problems such as delayed union or nonunion still occur in approximately 10% of patients. Optimal potential involves an interplay biomechanical and biological factors. Orthopedic implants are commonly used for providing necessary support. In situations where factors that needed fracture deemed inadequate, additional enhancement is needed. With platelets being packed with granules contain growth other proteins have osteoinductive capacity, local application platelet concentrates, also called platelet-rich plasma (PRP) seems attractive enhance healing. This review shows overview use PRP its effect enhancing extracted from patient's own blood, supporting considered safe. showed effective some studies, studies controversial results. Conflicts literature may be explained by absence consensus about preparation PRP, differences counts, low number patients, a standard technique. More addressing these issues order determine true on

Platelet-Rich Fibrin Promotes an Accelerated Healing of Achilles Tendon When Compared to Platelet-Rich Plasma in Rat

BACKGROUND Autologous platelet concentrate has been used to improve the function and regeneration of injured tissues. Tendinopathies are common in clinical practice, although long-term treatment is required. On the basis of lead time, we compared the effect of using platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) in repairing rat Achilles tendon. METHODS The effectiveness of usi...

Platelet-rich plasma in muscle healing.

The muscle healing process is defined as a complex and dynamic process resulting in the restoration of anatomic continuity and function. This process is characterized by a cascade of events triggered by the tissue injury itself. It is widely accepted that growth factors play a central role in the healing processes by modulating the recruitment, duplication, activation, and differentiation of di...
